Hello, dear Ice-Apple players!
There was a problem many people pointed out, and I finally got the time to solve it, after a period of testing. So, to keep it short, I want to announce you guys we implemented a new editor
for the media module. It took us a while to find a fully compatible and more versatile one but i am glad to say we completed the task of fixing all those bugs that were reported from media module.
This new editor is fully compatible with all your previous articles for editing them.
Let me tell you what are the bugs that were fixed and the new features of this editor:
- copy - paste
now works as intended, placing text where you want to.
- images can
be moved and placed anywhere you want by simply drag-and-drop
- text size bug is fixed
. Now, although in edit mode it will not show modification in size, in final version, your choices regarding size will be visible
- bullets and numbering options
- possibility to insert a YouTube, Dailymotion
video in your articles. Although in editing mode it will be shown as a tag line, in normal view mode it will be shows as, a full video people will be able to watch in your article, not redirected.
- block quote
feature - this provides the feature of block-level quotation in contents. In other words, a block quote is a quotation
in a written document, that is set off from the main text as a paragraph, or block
of text, and typically distinguished visually using indentation and a different typeface or smaller size font.
- integrated spell checker
- to access this option press,
then press Check Spelling
at the bottom of the drop-menu. This will open a window, where you can see the words you spelled wrong, and also, the right version to use. Poke around, as there are many options there to be set.
Also there is a tab for checking your grammar. From our testing, suggestions made by the checker in the grammar tab were not always accurate, so don't rely on it .
feature - SCAYT means Spell Check As You Type, and this feat will warn you when you make mistakes by underlining the word with a red line, while you are typing. You can enable/disable this feat from the same menu as spell checker.
- auto save
feature -, automatically saves the content, temporary, at every 15 seconds (for example when a login session times out). And after the content is saved it can be restored when the editor is reloaded., So if you accidentaly click on another page, on your session expires when you open create/edit again, a window will pop up with the posibility to load last saved content. BEWARE
- this will work only the first time you click on create/edit., If you choose cancel on load window, then your work will be lost.
NOTE: auto save kick in only if modifications were made in last 15 seconds to the article
- accessibility help
- displays the editor key map
information in a dialog window to illustrate, generic keystrokes to access each editor part, as well as the key bindings to various editor commands. To access it press Alt+0.
- words and characters count
- at the bottom of the editor
- title of the article is now mandatory
- this fixes the annoying situations when you would lose your entire work if you forgot to type the article name, and pressed create. Now, when that happens, you are directed to the title box and asked to fill it.
- the title has to be at least 5 characters long. If you make it less, it will generate an error, and the last auto save will be offered for loading.
Please, understand that this is a complex editor, and although it was tested, some bugs might appear. If that happens, please make print screens with errors and let me or rrevan know about it.
I hope this will help you guys create more content in ice apple media world. I know we have talented writers, and now they have the means to enjoy the media module, and entertain us all with their articles.
In order to encourage you to write more then sub for sub articles, we will launch next week a contest. We will announce more on this following days.
: there seems to be a problem with the bulets and numbering. They are shown in edit mode, but not visible in view mode. This will be fixed on monday
